The National Council for Problematic Gambling (NCPG) has declared new members for its consultative panel, including a fresh chairperson and vice chairperson.
Christopher Herbert, head of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Gaming Division, assumes the role of chairperson of the advisory panel, succeeding Stacy Shaw. Herbert has served as an assistant attorney general for over 18 years and has been spearheading the state’s program aimed at raising awareness about problematic gambling.
Under his direction, the Problem Gambling Resource Services (PGRS) program was established in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Health. The new chairperson underscored his comprehension of the NCPG’s vital role within the industry.
“The National Council for Problematic Gambling is a frontrunner in mitigating the detrimental impacts of gambling across our nation,” stated Herbert. “I am humbled to serve as chairperson of the organization’s advisory panel, which stands at the forefront of safeguarding our citizens.”
The organization has designated Martin Lycka, senior vice president of regulatory affairs and accountable gambling for Entain US, as vice chairperson. Lycka currently holds the position of trustee for the Entain Foundation US, a non-profit entity dedicated to responsible gambling, sports integrity, and corporate compliance.
Happiness highlighted the organization’s extensive experience in the dangers of wagering, stating that “the National Council on Problem Gambling is broadly acknowledged as a leader in problem gambling awareness, instruction, and support throughout the nation.
“As a part of its advisory board, I have been a strong advocate for their work for many years, and thus, I am honored to be designated vice chair,” he added.
NCPG Chief Executive Officer Keith Whyte welcomed the two new members.
“We are thrilled to have Christopher and Martin guiding the NCPG Advisory Board. They have been active leaders in our field for many years, and we are excited to utilize their skills and knowledge in new ways.
“I anticipate working closely with the entire advisory board to advance the organization’s purpose and achieve our ambitious targets for the future.”
