The Kindred Group observed a minor upswing in the proportion of income generated from risky gaming practices during the third quarter.
From June 18th to September 19th, 2023, roughly 3.3% of earnings originated from hazardous gambling activities. This figure contrasts with 3.1% in the preceding quarter, marking the lowest percentage since Kindred declared its objective of achieving zero revenue from harmful gambling by the end of 2023.
Kindred’s brand, Unibet, expresses optimism regarding the current quarter’s performance. The organization asserts that the emphasis on detection and automated interventions is mirrored in the positive trajectory of enhanced behavior following intervention.
The rate of behavioral improvement this quarter reached 86.7%, surpassing the 86.4% recorded in the second quarter and significantly exceeding the 82.1% achieved in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Ongoing intervention strategies
Kindred stated that automated intervention measures have been consistently implemented, and enhancements have been incorporated into its safer gambling toolkit. This provides a more comprehensive and responsible gambling experience across all Kindred brands.
The group remarked: “The data for 2023 indicates that while the trend is consistent, further action is required.”
Although Kindred has been dedicated to building a more secure gambling environment for all patrons, it also acknowledges the necessity to take additional actions to establish a sustainable industry in all markets over the long term.
A positive indicator is that the behavior of customers identified with gambling issues has shown improvement following the implementation of intervention strategies.
In the initial three months of 2020, detrimental gambling represented 3.9% of revenue, increasing to 4.7% by the year’s end. The positive impact of intervention measures was 77.3% in the first quarter of 2020, decreasing to 64.9% in 2021.
