PlayUp, the wagering and gaming firm, has named Dennis Drazin as its new head honcho. This news comes amid a legal tussle with Laila Mintas, the former chief executive of PlayUp’s American operations.
Drazin will assume the position right away and collaborate with PlayUp’s management team. He was initially brought onto the PlayUp board in 2020 and played a crucial role in getting the US Supreme Court to reverse its prohibition on sports betting. This was during his tenure as chairman and CEO of Darby Development, which oversees Monmouth Park.
Drazin conveyed his enthusiasm about PlayUp’s recent expansion, particularly in New Jersey, which he deems the most cutthroat market globally. He eagerly anticipates working with the team to broaden PlayUp’s operations and market share, propelling their growth in both the US and Australia.
Meanwhile, PlayUp’s legal disagreement with Mintas persists. A Nevada court issued a restraining order against Mintas for allegedly violating her agreement.
PlayUp, in legal filings, alleged that Mintas threatened to “destroy PlayUp” after negotiations for a deal fell through, which halted the sale of PlayUp’s Australian operations.
Mintas refuted these allegations, stating they were entirely fabricated.
PlayUp countered Mintas’ assertions, claiming they were inaccurate.
They indicated they would not provide further commentary as the matter is before the courts and they seek a swift resolution. They are concentrating on expansion within the American marketplace.
