Kaizen Gaming’s subsidiary, Betano, has been granted a permit to conduct online gaming operations in Ontario, Canada. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) issued this authorization.
Betano will be able to provide its online gambling services within the province. The permit is valid for a duration of one year, commencing on August 17th of the current year and concluding on August 16th, 2023. The license encompasses the Betano.ca website.
Betano will join other entities that have also been granted licenses to operate in Ontario. The province inaugurated its regulated online gambling marketplace in April. This signifies that the lottery no longer holds an exclusive monopoly on online gambling.
Certain companies, such as theScore, PointsBet, and Bet365, secured licenses prior to the market’s opening. Other companies, including PokerStars, SkillOnNet, and BetVictor, obtained licenses after the market’s commencement.
In April, Allwyn, a company engaged in lottery and gambling operations, consented to acquire a portion of Betano from OPAP, a Greek lottery firm. Allwyn will make a payment of €50 million for this acquisition. They will also disburse additional funds contingent upon Betano’s performance in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
